Hands Around the World is dedicated to providing a marketplace for traditionally produced religious crafts. The variety and beauty of these creations are prized throughout the world. We offer nativities, angels, crosses, crucifixes, Noah's Ark, crafted churches, jewelry, and other religious items. The artists come from Appalachia, Mexico, and South America.
The natives of the Andean mountains in Ecuador are known for their fine wood carving including hand carved and painted nativities. The Guahibo Indians live in the Amazon Basin of South America. Both men and women make a variety of handcrafts. The women make dolls from bark and fiber, decorated with seeds. The Guahibo men are accomplished wood carvers, carving ritual weapons or sculptures. The Guahibo have been affiliated with the Catholic Church for some time and their art often reflects a religious theme, including a hand carved wooden crucifix.
The artists in the Andes mountains of South America are known for their wonderfully imaginative and diverse pottery. Mucugres means "Place of clay" in the ancient Indian language of the Venezuelan Andes. Mucugres pottery uses local clay to form their own unique and creative style of pottery pieces. The company consists of seven sisters and brothers who each contribute their own individual twist to the designs. Mucugres makes many religious crafts, such as nativities, crosses, and angels.
